Al Hamilton begins his first season as a member of the Bulldog men's basketball coaching staff in 2017-18 under FSU head coach Andy Bronkema.

Previously, Hamilton served as a coach for the Michigan Warriors select travel squad from 2012-17 where he guided and mentored more than 20 future collegiate players. In addition, he also worked as an assistant coach on the prep level at Farmington High School where he helped tutor seven talented collegiate prospects.

As a member of the Michigan Warriors coaching staff, Hamilton served as both a coach and the recruiting coordinator. His responsibilities ranged from on-court coaching to assisting players with academics, scheduling visits, organizing basketball camps and improving player abilities. He was also one of the Warriors' primary contacts with college coaches and helped ease the recruiting process for student-athletes and parents while playing a vital role in helping them reach the next level.

Hamilton got his coaching start under Terrence Porter as a volunteer assistant coach at Farmington High School. He also was the program's freshman head coach in his final year, compiling a 12-5 overall record along with helping the varsity squad achieve a 15-6 mark.

During his time at Farmington, Hamilton helped the program achieve success which included winning two league championships and city title. While with the program, he played an active role in on-court coaching, scheduling, raising funds and team development. He also served a key role in the squad's defensive schemes, player development, scouting and film breakdown in addition to aiding players academically.

Hamilton is a native of Mt. Clemens, Mich.
