As spring turns to summer, travel basketball players have shifted their focus away from AAU, over to high shool ball. This time of year it is imperative that we look at some of the standout players. This spring a number of players have either had dominating performances, made a name for themselves, or seen their stock rise as recruits. Below, we will take a look at some of these athletes.

Wendell Green Jr.

2020, PG, Michigan Playmakers 17u, Detroit Country Day

Green has the handles and body control to finish in traffic. He can score from anywhere and has shown unlimited range.

James Babers 

2020, 6’7”, F, The Program 16u, Saginaw High School

Babers is a big man with guard skills. He’s a stat sheet filler and a double-double machine.

Melen Lewis

2019, 6’4”, Post, Macomb Cougars 17u, New Haven

Lewis is a throwback post player. He is an excellent interior defender.

Jaden Bettinger 

2019, 6’7”, Post, Macomb Cougars 17u, L’Anse Creuse

Bettinger is a long and wirey shot blocker.

Michael Raisch

2019, 6-5, F, Greg Grant 17u, Oxford

Raisch is a good ball handler who has range on his jumper.  He’s a difficult matchup because of his size. Raisch averaged 15.5ppg and 9rpg with Greg Grant this spring.

Pierre Brooks

2021, 6’5”, CG, The Family, Frederick Douglass

Brooks is one of the top 2021 talents nationwide. He’s smart with the ball and can score at all three levels.

Eonte Tornes

2019, G, UTS Elite 17u, Muskegon High School

Tornes is a high percentage shooter who takes pride in his defense.

Jimmy Scholler

2020, G, Greenwood Elite 16u, Forest Hills Central

Scholler is a consistent scorer with a nice looking jumper.

Jona Robinson

2018, PG, Lansing Prospectors, Jackson

Robinson is a vertically fast player who plays through contact.

Andrel Anthony Jr.

2021, CG, UTS Elite 15u, East Lansing

Anthony is an elite shooter who can get hot from deep. If the defense steps out on him, he can take them off the dribble as well.

Kevyn Robertson 

2021, 6’3”, F, REACH 15u, Walled Lake Northern

Robertson is active around the rim and a skilled rebounder. He’s great at getting the ball out into transition off a defensive rebound.

Jimmy Breaux

2020, 6’6”, F, Downriver Bad Boyz, Wyandotte

Breaux is a tall and long athlete that turned heads all spring.

Isaiah Lewis

2019, G, M2K Elite, Wayne Memorial

Lewis is a deep threat who is not limited by range. He has good handles and can play on or off the ball.

Trey Townsend

2020, 6’5”, F, NO Wolfpack, Oxford

Townsend can play the 3 or a stretch 4. He’s got good athleticism with a nice jumper. Townsend is the type of player that teammates love playing with.

Latavius Vaughter

2020, F, Flints Finest, Clio

Vaughter is an athletic scorer who has put himself on the map this spring.

Cade Beall 

2020, G, The Program 16u, Saginaw Heritage

Beall is a solid shooter. He has the ability to play at any pace and is a calming influence on the floor.

Christian Johnson 

2021, 5’10”, PG, Macomb Cougars 16u

Johnson is a strong on ball defender. Offensively, he’s solid from behind the arc.

Bryce Williamson

2020, 6’6”, Post, Macomb Cougars 16u

Williamson is a stretch 4 with great footwork. He can take a defender to the basket or hit the three.

Robert Johnson III

5’10”, PG, Greg Grant 17u, West Bloomfield

Johnson is quick and explosive when going to the rim. His 31 inch vertical helps him as a dangerous finisher and a solid rebounding guard. This spring he has averaged 15ppg, 5apg, and 4spg for Greg Grant.

Karvon Stigall 

6’4”, F, Downriver Bad Boys, River Rouge

Stigall is a strong lefty who excels in the paint. He has good body control and plays through contact.

Parker Day

2021, 6’5”, Greenwood Elite 15u, Saginaw Heritage

Day is a do-it-all type of player who continues to rise as a prospect.

Darrell Belcher

6’3”, G, UTS Elite 17u, Grand Rapids Catholic Central

Belcher is a crafty left hander. He can hunt shots and get buckets.
